Look, a lot of us have trouble writing, speaking, and typing in English or any language. If somebody makes a mistake, just let them know by being polite about it, and maybe letting them know how to fix their grammatical, spelling, or punctuation mistakes. Don't be a douche about it and insult them for messing up.
Thanks,
Maxyenko

It's usually possible to work out who's typing in their second language. People should learn to identify them and adjust their attitude towards correction accordingly.

Shit, I only speak English, but dyslexia makes writing and reading things very difficult for me.

That always bugs me. The worst is when someone replies and the only contribution they make is a correction. If you're going to point out that "loose" is a different word than "lose," at least offer a little sympathy to the fact that their wife is sleeping around.
Who the hell care's if someone makes an apostrophe mistake, or uses the wrong version there/their/they're. If they get the message across, let it go.
The only time I'll point out typos, is when I can make a funny out of it. As in here and there.

Yeah that's different, if all parties involved can have a laugh, then it's perfectly acceptable.

Unless the typo makes the sentence's meaning ambiguous don't say anything at all and assume it was just an honest typo.
Sometimes I wish there was a separate link where the grammar nazis can send corrections. That link would preferably empty into the Pacific.

Am I the only one who finds it just slightly ironic that "grammar" is misspelled in the lead picture?

Agreed, good PSA.

Here here!!
I'm massively dyslexic and have a powerful case of ADHD (3.5 standard deviations above the mean on the Conner's scale, I'm surprised I even completed this.... ohh shiny! What, what was I doing??).
I usually try to re-read all of my posts, but I miss a lot of spelling and grammar mistakes. I certainly don't mind being corrected, but people don't need to be nasty about it. A polite correction and I'll go back and correct the mistake.
Thanks for the PSA!

If English is not your first language you get a pass on all technical errors such as using the wrong form of there, their, or they're. However, if English is your first language and you screw up those types of things you're fair game. Why? It is simple. If you ever have a job with written communication and make those mistakes you make yourself and your company look like idiots. Showing no mercy will help you be more successful in life!
No I'm not serious, but if English is your first language you have no excuses.

I will, however, jump all over some 1 4 texting in 2 a message board. That jus la z. Unless you are thumbing away at a E.161 device, I'm going to ask for sentences.
Lazy gets no mercy.

Is dyslexia not an excuse?

It can be an excuse for all spelling mistakes, punctuation mistakes, and reading comprehension mistakes. Not homonym errors.

I will correct people, but only when it is a common error.
For example.
"I hate it wheb I loose my things!"
I will ignore the typo "wheb" as it is clearly unintentional, and probably made from a shitty cell phone keyboard (as this post was), but using loose* instead of lose* I will point out.
If I was arguing with said poster, I will be the biggest ass about it. However if I stumble across it, I will merely post "*lose, not loose"

I had a guy skewer me for an error using apostrophes. He was spot-on correct, however he made an error using an article. I let him know he was correct about mine, but then childishly lashed back. In the end everything was okay. I was happy that everyone else stood up for my mistakes.
One of my personal issues is being in a hurry to put something up and not letting it sit for a few minutes to make sure things are spelled correctly and make sense.
But I could not agree more with this post. So what if someone makes a mistake? This isn't the New York Times after all!

Well, at least most people around these parts know what a Turbo is, so CNN is no paragon of accuracy either!

Even though poor/lazy grammar and spelling bug the FLIP outta me, I deal with it. I knew what you meant to say. I get lazy sometimes. It's casual English, not a collegiate paper. I love the Most Interesting Man graphic you made.
